Southern Delaware School of the Arts Friends and Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Dr. Rick Evans and I am the new Principal of SDSA! I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be the Principal of such an incredible school. Just to tell you a little about me, I just completed my 22nd year in education in the State of Delaware! I have been in building and district administration for the past 14 of those 22 years. During those 14 years I have served as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Human Resources and Director of Finance in both the Indian River and the Laurel School Districts.
I would like to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year! Mrs. Huebner and I are excited to lead SDSA and welcome back all of our students and staff for a great school year, one in which we work to get back to our normal routines. There is no doubt in my mind that we will have a successful year because of the incredible students and staff who walk through our doors each day.
At SDSA infusing the Arts into a strong academic program is our mission because we believe it provides our students with an opportunity to explore the Arts disciplines while maintaining a competitive academic profile. We also believe that the arts and the core academic content work together to develop the whole child. This year we will continue to immerse our students with Arts opportunities in order to develop their passion for the arts, and for their own education.
My ask from you is that you support our school by working with us so that we can accomplish our goals together. We encourage you to play an active role in your child’s education and support our school through our PTO, and being a role model for our students. Together, we can all work to ensure all our children have the best possible educational experiences.
I look forward to working with you all throughout the school year and am excited about what we can accomplish together!
Sincerely,
Rick Evans
