Dance Class Descriptions
Dance 01
This class will offer a variety of dance styles and techniques with two dance performances throughout the year.
Dance 02
This class will offer a variety of dance styles and techniques with two dance performances throughout the year.
Dance 03
This class will teach the methodology of learning to choreograph dances using choreographic principles and other artistic avenues. A showcase may be presented.
Dance Audition Requirements
- Prepare and perform a solo dance piece to a song and style of your choice; maximum of two minutes in length. The song must be appropriate for a school environment. It is encouraged to demonstrate your strengths-leaps, turns, jumps, etc.
- Dancers will be scored based on technique, musicality, preparedness, and creativity.
- Dancers must submit a video audition to allison.bower@irsd.k12.de.us
- Dancer should be in clothes that does not restrict movement- for example, appropriate athletic attire or dance clothes are recommended.
Class Materials for Dance 01, 02, 03
- All dance students should wear appropriate tee shirt, leggings, athletic shorts (at appropriate length)
- All dance students should have tap, jazz, and ballet shoes.
- Dance costumes and other items may need to be purchased throughout the year for performances.
- Dance 3 students should have a folder to keep choreography notes
