Instrumental Class Descriptions

Jazz Band

This class is for students who are interested in developing basic jazz skills through the performance of jazz literature. Instrumentation for this class includes alto sax, tenor sax, bari sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drum set. This class performs at the Winter and Spring concerts, as well as in possible community performances and at King’s Dominion Theme Park.

Rock Band

This dynamic class is designed for students eager to dive into the world of rock music! You will learn essential skills in rhythm, melody, harmony, and stage presence as you explore the foundations of rock music through hands on experience. With a focus on teamwork and collaboration, you will have the opportunity to learn the guitar, bass, drums, piano, or vocals.There are about 4 performances per year.

Concert Band

This class is an intermediate level concert band, designed for students to build on the skills they learned in beginning band. Instrumentation includes: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Percussion. This class performs twice per year in the Winter and Spring concerts. There is also the opportunity to become members of the County and All-State Bands.
