Principal's Message

Dear Southern Delaware School of the Arts Families,

Welcome to a brand new school year! I am thrilled to be joining the SDSA family as your new principal! We welcome both our returning families and those who are new to our school community. Each new year brings fresh opportunities for growth, learning, and connection—and I am excited to begin this journey with you.

I have been in the Indian River School District for 21 years. I began my teaching career as a middle school Science teacher at Sussex Central Middle School and then have been an Assistant Principal at Phillip Showell Elementary, SDSA, and East Millsboro Elementary. I believe that these experiences have prepared me to lead our staff and your children to a valuable and memorable academic experience. During my academic career, I was extremely active in classical music which I participated in all the way through my college experience, and continue to appreciate the fine arts as an adult.

At SDSA, we believe that integrating the arts into the curriculum is of utmost importance and our focus is providing challenging learning opportunities, while growing the talents of our students in whichever related arts classes they may attend. This specialized focus is what makes our school truly unique and develops students into children who are both academically prepared as well as skilled performers as they advance toward their future.

Strong partnerships between home and school are key to student success. I encourage you to stay involved, stay informed, and reach out with any questions or ideas. Open communication and collaboration with families help us build a stronger, more supportive school community.

Let’s make this a great year together. Here’s to a year filled with discovery, growth, and achievement for all of our students!

Sincerely,
Jenna Argo
